Minors aged 13 and older can consent to mental health treatment without parental consent, provided the mental health professional deems them capable of understanding the nature and consequences of the treatment. However, parental involvement is encouraged whenever possible and appropriate. For minors under the age of 13, parental consent is typically required for mental health treatment, unless an exception applies where the minor's welfare is at risk or they are otherwise authorized by law to consent. Any individual age 13 and above are responsible for their own services in the mental health industry.
